Hawking’s New Wireless-B and Wireless-G Access Points/Bridges Combine the Functions of an AP, Bridge and Repeater Into One Easy-to-Configure Device.

 

IRVINE, CA – December 23, 2003 – Hawking Technologies, Inc., one of the leading providers of networking equipment, today announced that it is planning to introduce two (802.11b and 802.11g) new wireless access points / bridges.  Currently in the market, wireless access points and bridges are sold individually as two separate units.  Hawking’s two new AP/Bridges will be the first in the market to have a multi-function feature that allows the user to select the exact function of his/her AP/Bridge.  By combining three solutions into one compact unit, setup time and costs are significantly reduced.  The HWBA11 Wireless AP/Bridge will use the 802.11b wireless standard and feature an attractive price.  The HWBA54G will be an addition to Hawking’s successful Hi-Speed 54G Wireless Product line.  It will operate on the 802.11g wireless standard and feature the latest wireless security standards.

 

Hawking Technologies’ HWBA11 Wireless-B  Access Point / Bridge / Repeater

The Hawking Technologies HWBA11 is a 2.4GHz 802.11b wireless access point, workgroup bridge and wireless repeater.  As a wireless access point, the HWBA11 can turn any wired network into a wireless one.  In the wireless bridge mode, the HWBA11 can enable any wired Ethernet-Ready (i.e., PC, gaming console, printer etc.) device to communicate with a wireless network or another wireless device.  As a wireless repeater, the HWBA11 can communicate to another wireless access point (using WDS) and retransmit the wireless signal to boost wireless coverage and range. 

 

All functions are easily configured via the included software-based Setup Wizard.  The intuitive wizard guides the user step by step through the installation process, making the device simple enough for novices to use and setup, yet advanced enough for the most tech savvy users to appreciate. 

 

Hawking Technologies’ HWBA54G Hi-Speed Wireless-G  Access Point / Bridge / Repeater

The Hawking Technologies HWBA54G is a 2.4GHz 802.11g wireless access point, workgroup bridge and wireless repeater.  It operates at blazing wireless speeds of up to 54Mbps and is backwards compatible with all 802.11b wireless devices.  The HWBA54G boasts the same multiple functions as the HWBA11, however it adds a faster processor and wireless chip.  In addition to speed, the Wireless-G AP/Bridge/Repeater also incorporates the highest level of wireless security (WPA).  The unit is easily configured using the included software-based Setup Wizard.

Pricing and Availability

The Hawking HWBA11 and HWBA54G wireless devices will be available January 20 ^th 2004, via retailers, direct marketers, e-commerce sites and distribution channels.  The HWBA11 will have a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $99 and Estimated Street Price (ESP) of $69.  The Hawking HWBA54G will have a  MSRP of $159 and ESP of $99.
