Q. How to Setup the Wireless-G Range Extender
A.
HOW TO SETUP THE WIRELESS-G RANGE EXTENDER

HWUR54G

First thing you need to do is setup the IP, Subnet Mask, and Gateway of
your extender.
Before any connection of the extender, we have to find out the IP of the router.
Start Menu
Run Type "cmd", hit enter
In the black command prompt window, type "ipconfig"
The ###.###.###.### to the right of default gateway is the IP of your router.†
For example...192.168.1.1
Now you can either connect the extender directly to your computer or
to the router.

Use the wizard to find the extender and to change the information of your
extender to...
For example based upon the above #...
IP: 192.168.1.XXX (<=== The first three sets of the #s are the same as the routers' except the last one)
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (<=== notice here that the gateway is the same IP as the router)†
The XXX can be any # up to 250 except for the routers...typically we use 235.

After the wizard saves and reboots the print server, connect it back to the
router or leave it there.

Then open up your Internet Explorer and in the address bar, put in the
Address of the router in (192.168.1.235).

It should come up and ask your for the username/password (admin/1234) if it
doesn't then power cycle the device.

On the main page of the extender, fill in exactly the wireless
settings of your router here.†
Make sure you fill in...
SSID
Channel
Encryption

After you save, you should be able to disconnect the extender via lan cable
from the router and use it wirelessly.

Q. How to Setup the HBB1 Broadband Booster with VoIP Networks (ATAs)
A. HBB1 - Broadband Booster Installation Instructions for networks with VoIP Devices
Installation of the HBB1 in networks using VoIP ATA devices for VoIP phone calls.
Symptom:
After installing your HBB1 your VoIP application ceases to work.† Internet access is working
but your VoIP ATA device fails to get a connection with your VoIP ISP server.
Solution:†

--† STEP1 --
SETUP: Modem/DSL -> HBB1 -> Router
(Do not power on or connect your VoIP ATA yet)
In this setup, ensure that the HBB1 has completed the rate estimation which takes few seconds at
the boot up of the HBB1.
You can ensure this process by trying to access the webpage of the HBB1.
If the rate estimation is still ongoing, you will see that message in the webpage of HBB1
(192.168.229.61).
If completed, you can access the webpage of the HBB1 and it will display the determined uplink rate.
Also, once the rate estimation is completed, you should be able to access the internet.
Please note that while rate estimation process is ongoing, the HBB1 will block access to the internet.
Thus if you have your VOIP ATA already connected to the LAN side of the router, it might be trying to
access the server while the rate estimation process is ongoing.
In this case, the packets will be blocked by the HBB1 and thus you might not be able to successfully
register your VOIP ATA.
Thus it is important to ensure that the rate estimation is completed prior to using hte VOIP ATA.

-- STEP2 --

Now connect the VOIP ATA to the LAN side of the router and power up the VOIP ATA.
Now the VOIP ATA should not have any problem talking to the server since the HBB1 is already in the
pass through mode.
You are now ready to enjoy the benefits of the Broadband Booster.

Q. How To Setup the HBB1 with ADSL / Cable Modem plus Router Combo Devices
A.
Q. i am experiencing a low level of performance with my fast ethernet hub
A. Check all of you hardware connections, make sure they are connected tightly and securely to the LAN Port on the hub and your Ethernet Port on your network adapter. The cable you are using must be compliant with the standard of CAT 5. Make sure you do not run your cable next to light sources which may cause electrical interference. Collisions are normal in an Ethernet Network, but excessive collisions may indicate that your network is overly congested. Other problems that can cause excessive collisions include: The workstation cable from the hub may exceed the maximum length of 100 meters. A total network diameter may exceed the maximum length of 205 meters. Faulty Fast Ethernet adapters or other equipment on the network. Set the port speed and transmission rate, appropriately. Set the transmission speed in your Ethernet adapter to auto-negotiation mode. Auto-negotiation will determine the transmission mode on the hub you are connecting to. Do not restrict the transmission rate unless it is necessary, and you are familiar with your product capabilities. 10Base-T Half Duplex 10Base-T Full Duplex 100Base-TX Half Duplex 100Base-TX Full Duplex If possible try to isolate the bad port that might initiate excess collisions in your network.
Q. do i need to change the irq for my pci network interface adapter
A. IRQ's should be changed to avoid conflict with other devices in your system. Although the Hawking PN102TX is PCI 2.1 compliant with adapters and it supports IRQ sharing, other PCI devices may not support this function. Sharing IRQ's with these devices may cause one or more of the symptoms listed below: a. Hanging, freezing, or locking at boot-up, when accessing another PCI devices b. Slow performance c. Absence of video d. No logon available e. Blue screen in Windows NT background The PCI devices cannot request specific resources or control the manner in which the BIOS assign resources. Resources cannot be jumped or soft-set by any type of software, including Windows 95, Windows NT or PCI adapter configuration & diagnostics program. NOTE: Our NIC PN102TX must be installed in a slot that supports bus-mastering, and bus-mastering must be enabled within the BIOS.
Q. My HBB1 Broadband Booster Intermitently Drops my Internet Connection. What do I Do?
A.
Product: HBB1 Broadband Booster

Symptom:†
After intalling the HBB1, the network internet connection drops every so often.† When the HBB1 is not connected to the network the internet is stable and constantly on.

Solution:
The cause of this is because your broadband upstream connection rate from your Broadband service provider is constantly changing.† When your upstream data rate changes, the HBB1 detects is and has to reconfigure itself to your new upstream data rate.† During this time your interenet connection is cut off briefly.†

To solve this, go into your HBB1 configuration menu by accessing the following URL in your web browser.

Once the page loads, select the "Configuration" tab.† You'll need to find out what upstream data rate your ISP offers your specific network.† If you are not sure please check with your ISP.† Whatever number it is (i.e. 128 or 384kpbs etc..) you will need to enter it manually into the Configuration screen and set it as a "static" number.† This should stop the HBB1 from reconfiguring itself each time your network upstream data rate changes.

Routers
