I’m not getting the range that I expect. Why is that?
Wireless traffic is bidirectional. Signals must be sent and received. You are limited by the weakest wireless adapter on the network. For example, if one wireless device has a range of 500 feet but the other device only has a range of 100 feet, the maximum range would be 100 feet.
Antennas also have a cone of transmission. For example, if an antenna only has a 15 degree angle of transmission, you must make sure your wireless devices are within this cone of transmission. Otherwise, your wireless device might not see a signal or see any improvement. Check the specs for each product (will usually be listed a H-Plane and E-Plane: H-Plane is the Horizontal view and E-Plane is Vertical view)
